Detailed Procedures for Becoming a Foster Home

1.   Once the application is received, we will call all your references.  If your references are satisfactory, we will schedule a home visit.  Please provide non-family references.

2.   You will be able to foster any dog or puppy from the available dogs needing a foster home, with final approval of NCRR (the dog must match your lifestyle and family dynamics should you have children or other pets, etc.).

3.  The NCRR foster contract REQUIRES that you take the dog you foster to adoption meet & greet events as well as vet appointments when necessary.

4.  NCRR does not have a facility and is an all volunteer-run organization.  Dogs are housed in foster homes and are expected to be "inside" dogs.

5.  A signed foster contract is required at the time of placement of the dog in your home.

6. NCRR provides monthly heartworm preventative as well as necessary medical treatment directed by our veterinarian.  Flea and tick preventative is optional at the expense of the foster family.

7. NCRR requires foster families to crate train their foster dog.  Crates may be provided.

8. Due to hard economic times, foster families are asked to provide food for the dog(s) as well.
